Year 3 - Mandrill

Welcome to the Mandrill Class page.

 

We have had a lovely year so far, and I am looking forward to what the coming months bring!

 

Mrs Lawrence is the class teacher, and Mrs Panes is the class LSA, from Monday to Friday.

 

If you have any worries or concerns, then you will find me at the front of school until 3:30pm or you can arrange a meeting or phone call with me for a later time.

You will find that the spellings will be uploaded on this page every week, upcoming events and an update about achievements in Celebration Assembly each week.

Well done to..

Dylan for being a computing expert and teaching us how to use Pivot Animator this week.

Owen for having a positive attitude and being helpful in class.

William for recalling lots of French knowledge from this term.

Melissa, Grace, Alfred, Summer and Simon for getting every single homework stamp this term!

 

Star of the week ...

Simon for writing a fantastic fable which was a delight to read and used some incredible vocabulary.

 

Yellow Jersey Nomination...

Joy for writing a fantastic fable and continuing to work hard in all of her lessons. She has made particularly good progress with her spelling this term and is always a cheerful member of the class.

Well done to..

Finley and Nathan for some fantastic work in dance where they have been developing contrasting movements. 

Olly for being a good team player in dance this week.

William and Simon for using brackets correctly in English this week.

 

Star of the week ...

Dylan for participating more regularly in lessons and for some fantastic explanations of concepts in class.

 

Yellow Jersey Nomination...

Tyler for his continued resilience and hard work in all lessons. His work is always of a high standard and he will often ask for feedback of how to improve, which is a fantastic skill to have.

Imogen for her deep understanding and super explanations linked to our RE learning this week.

Melissa and Simon for some lovely ideas within our English lessons when writing newspapers.

Alfred and William for being kind and welcoming to our guest this week.

Olly for working incredibly hard, without complaint, on catching up this week after being ill.

 

Yellow Jersey Winner...

Lilly  for always being a star in her lessons and always having a smile on her face. She is always willing to help others and carries on trying her hardest, even if she finds something difficult.

Simon, Jamie-Joe and Tyler for some super work on reading the time on analogue clocks.  

Oscar and Imogen for some lovely contributions during our PDL work this week on being kind to each other. 

Summer for contributing more regularly in lessons. 

 

Star of the week ...

Alfred for overcoming upsets maturely and getting on with his work despite them. 

 

Yellow Jersey Winner...

Jakob  for a huge improvement to his attitude and effort in lessons. He has also worked hard on asking for help before becoming upset which is great to see.

Simon, Finley and Lilly for always listening and contributing in lessons. 

Ethan, Oscar and Melissa for fantastic reciprocity skills within science, and completing the experiment carefully and logically.

 

Star of the week ...

William for always contributing within lessons and developing others' ideas. He also always develops his own learning further and has shared a range of facts he has learnt while reading. 

 

Yellow Jersey Nomination...

Nathan  for his reciprocity skills within lessons and some super work in maths and English where he came up with some thoughtful questions linked to 'Escape from Pompeii' for our newspaper reports.

Well done to..

Ethan and Oscar for a huge improvement in the presentation of their work.

Nathan for better concentration and behaviour in lessons.

Melissa for her resilience in all lessons, and an improvement in her spelling scores. 

Joy, Finley and Lilly for being super scientists and working together to work out how to light up a bulb.

Alfred, Summer, Simon, Olly, Grace and Finley for consistently high spelling scores this half term. 

 

Star of the week ...

Joy for a big improvement in her handwriting and quality of work. I was also very impressed with her persuasive advert and the persuasive language she used. 

 

Yellow Jersey Winner...

Ryan for working hard on his presentation and quality of work in lessons, including his handwriting and spelling. I was also blown away with some of his persuasive language in English and his final copy of his persuasive advert. 

 

 

Friday 8th February 2019

Well done to..

Lilly, Olly, Dylan, Owen and Simon for adapting quickly and stepping in for others who were absent during our class assembly.

Imogen for an improved effort towards her work this week. She has been thinking harder about the content and presentation of her work especially. 

Simon for coming back to school after being ill with a fab attitude towards his learning. He has managed to catch up very quickly on the work he has missed too!

Alfred for having a much more positive attitude towards his learning this week.

 

Star of the week ...

Finley for trying harder with his spellings so far this term. He has improved on his spelling test scores, and is thinking harder about how to apply the spellings he knows in his work. 

 

Yellow Jersey Nomination...

Jamie-Joe for working incredibly hard on improving his own work. He is consistently reflecting back on the work he has done, and often re-writes parts if his handwriting isn't neat enough, checks he isn't missing words from sentences and he is also beginning to check and correct his own spellings.

Well done to..

Tyler for some fantastic work on angles during maths this week. 

Imogen and Ethan for some super descriptions when writing expanded noun phrases for our narrative work. 

Alfred and Olly for their effort to improve in French lessons. We have seen a huge increase in the vocab they can use. 

 

Star of the week ...

Ryan for showing a huge improvement in his handwriting and quantity of work being produced in lessons. He has also worked hard on his focus when learning, well done!

Ethan and Melissa for their confidence with exploring and sharing ideas for their group during Let's Think. 

William and Jakob for some great deeper thinking during Let's Think, which they then used to think of the message behind the story. 

Finley for some super work with fractions this week, which he has then supported others with during lessons.  

 

Star of the week ...

Summer for always working hard in lessons, working well in a team and for being a true Reciprocity Rosie. 

 

Yellow Jersey Nomination...

Grace  for her reflectiveness in lessons, improvement in work quality and her teamwork skills (even when working with children she doesn't usually work with). She also always completes her work and corrects any mistakes she has made  with a smile on her face all of the time!

Jamie-Joe for his fantastic comprehension work with Mrs Carter. 

Nathan and Owen for their brilliant team work and performance skills during performance poetry. 

Olly, Joy and Lilly for growing in confidence when performing poems this week to the rest of the class.

Melissa for fantastic effort in all of her lessons this week. She has also thought carefully about the poems we have looked at, and put suitable actions in when performing them. 

 

Yellow Jersey Nomination...

Dylan for his resilience during maths this week. Although he hasn't found it easy, he has continued to keep trying and is now more confident with finding fractions of amounts.

Alfred, Grace and Summer for being helpful by tidying up the classroom after Art.

Dylan for his brilliant knowledge on forces and aerodynamics in our science lesson.

Finley for supporting others and being a true Reciprocity Rosie during English when writing play scripts.

Imogen for a super improvement with her attitude to her work. She has also impressed me with some super answers during guided reading and fantastic acting skills in English.

 

Yellow Jersey Winner...

Simon for a great improvement with his resilience and for being a super Reciprocity Rosie, working fantastically in groups on his play script this week. I have also been impressed by his maths work where he has explained how he worked out problems clearly and was resourceful when working out calculations.

Oscar for having a super attitude to his learning and being resilient during his maths lessons even after having time off. He has now managed to understand the short division method confidently.
