Home Learning

Friday 17th April 2020

Dear Parent/ Carer,

RE: Home Learning

I hope you enjoyed the Easter holiday despite the difficult circumstances. At least we have been able to go out in the sunshine for our daily exercise!

On Monday the summer term starts. The children will not be in school however we believe it is very important for our children to resume their learning. Prior to Easter we were delighted to see so many of our children completing home learning tasks and posting their efforts on our school blog page. We want to see this again.

Our home learning programme will restart next week and we urge you to encourage your child to complete the tasks and challenges that will be set by our teachers on both our website pages and the school blog.

In addition to the work set online, we will again be providing work packs. We will be making these available for collection from school on Monday. They will be left under the school entrance canopy. If you cannot come in to school to collect the work, we can arrange for delivery later in the week. To assist us with the administration of the packs, please complete the online form below.

The work packs will contain some English units for the children to complete. Please keep copies of your child’s work typed or on the lined paper provided. Later in the week we will be writing to parents about an exciting application called SeeSaw that will enable our teachers to personally interact and feedback to your child about their written work.

The table on the next page summarises our expectations for home learning this term. As we have said previously there are no set times for your child to work. All we ask is that your child is encouraged to do a couple of hours of work each day.

If you have any questions about our home learning programme or if you require support with helping your child, please do not hesitate to contact us through the usual ways.

I thank you in advance for your continued support.

Yours sincerely,

Mr O’Brien

Work for this half term

Challenges and Activities

Wider Curriculum

There are two English units to complete at home. The first of these is contained in the paper work pack.

Your child can receive feedback from their class teacher on this work.

Please await a further letter with details about SeeSaw.

Your child’s teacher will upload maths packs to the school website.

We encourage parents to mark the work with your child for instant feedback. Areas your child is struggling with gives an idea for what to focus on next. Let you child’s class teacher know.

The Wootey Blog is a great place to ask your teacher questions on areas you are struggling with.

There are loads of fun challenges and activities on the Wootey Blog. Please continue to engage with these!

Teachers will also be uploading suggested tasks for different year groups. Encourage your child to check their class teacher’s posts as well as the other year group teacher too.

It has been great to see the amazing Art, DT projects, cooking and sport activities the children have been doing. Please keep this going!

Please have a go at some of the Art and DT challenges in the work pack sent home.
