Religious Education

Purpose of study

We aim for children to understand some of the key beliefs and rituals rooted in the religions studied and understand what the concepts can mean to the believer. We wish for our children to ask questions about life, the concept of God and their spirituality. The school’s RE curriculum is rooted in the Enquiry Cycle and explores the faiths of Christianity, Islam and Hinduism through a variety of concepts such as freedom.

Aims

Our curriculum for Religious Education aims for all children to achieve the following:

  • a clear understanding of the concepts taught and understand how the Enquiry Cycle deepens their thinking and learning.
  • the need to ask deeper questions about meaning, use structured thinking methods to understand concepts studied and to verbalise what the concepts mean to the believer and themselves.
  • develop respectful attitudes towards different faiths and the idea of spirituality.
