Mobile Phone Policy
Dear Parents,
I am writing to remind you of our Mobile Phone Policy that can be found on our website. The policy details how children are prohibited from using or having access to a mobile phone in school. Children may bring a phone to school but it must be handed immediately to their class teacher on arrival to school where it will be locked away until 3:15pm. Any child who is caught using a mobile phone on the school site, at any time, will have their device confiscated and it will only be returned to a parent collecting it.
Can parents also note that:
Parents can not:
Take pictures or recordings of pupils or staff, unless it’s a public event (such as a school assembly), or of their own child.
Must only use photographs or recordings for personal use only and not post on social media without consent.
As a school we encourage you to delay giving a smartphone to your child until they are at least 14 years old. A growing number of parents and schools across the country are choosing to do this.
If you need to contact your child while they travel to and from school, a simple ‘brick’ phone is enough. ‘Brick’ phones do not have internet connectivity, and they are inexpensive. They do not impact on mental health, or attention or sleep. Alternatives to a smartphone can be found here: https://smartphonefreechildhood.co.uk/alternatives
If you have any questions and would like advice about your child's mobile phone use, please contact either myself or our Deputy Head, Mrs Manston.
Best wishes,
Mr Tim O'Brien
