Prejudicial Language

Friday 6th February 2026

Dear Parents and Carers,

RE: Prejudicial language and Inclusion

At our school, we are committed to creating a safe, respectful and inclusive environment where every child feels valued and supported.

As part of this commitment, we actively teach children about the harm caused by prejudicial language and racist abuse. Through our curriculum and daily school life, we encourage children to understand the importance of kindness, respect and celebrating differences.

Today, we have carried out a pupil survey using the Hampshire Prejudicial Behaviour Toolkit. This has given children the opportunity to share their thoughts and experiences and helps us to better understand how they feel about issues relating to prejudice and discrimination.

The feedback gathered will be used to help shape and strengthen our curriculum and wider school approach, ensuring that we continue to address these important topics in a meaningful and age-appropriate way.

Enclosed with this letter is Hampshire’s guidance for parents and carers on prejudicial behaviour and racist abuse. We hope this will support conversations at home and reinforce the messages we promote in school.

We are proud to be an inclusive school community and remain fully committed to ensuring that all pupils are treated with dignity and respect. By working together with families, we can help children grow into thoughtful, responsible and compassionate members of society.

Thank you for your continued support.

Yours sincerely,

Mr Tim O’Brien

Headteacher
