Beach Trip

Monday 1st July 2024

Dear Parent/Carers,

RE: Wootey goes to the beach!

Our whole school visit to West Wittering beach on Thursday July 18th July is fast approaching.

At the beginning of the year we asked parents to contribute £30 towards the cost of this year’s school visits and this included the annual Beach trip. Thank you to the many parents who have done this. If you have not yet made a contribution, please support the school as we can’t run these fantastic experiences without your help. If you can’t afford the £30 yearly contribution the suggested amount for this trip is £10. Payments can be made via Scopay.

On the day the following exciting activities are planned:

  • Kite Flying and beach sculpture making
  • Shoreline Paddle and Dune nature walk
  • Cricket/Frisbee games
  • Sandcastle Competition

Please note the children will not be swimming in the sea. Children will be allowed to paddle at the shoreline in the lifeguard observed area only. This activity has been carefully risk assessed and approved by the local authority.

The children will need to wear the following items:

  • T-shirt, swimming shorts or swimming costume, trainers or flip flops, a hoody or light jumper and a hat or cap. Please note bikini swimwear is not deemed appropriate for this visit.

The children will also need to bring the following items:

  • A rucksack containing a change of shorts, a towel, sun tan lotion, a packed lunch and a bucket and spade. Please make sure all items are labelled with your child’s name.

If there is wet weather the visit will still go ahead. We will issue a wet weather kit list nearer the day if the forecast suggests rain. Please also note that the coaches will return at approximately 3:30pm so home time will be slightly later that day.

We can’t wait to go!

Yours sincerely,

Mr Tim O’Brien
